Let’s look Inside The Packaging Idea
The Thought
My initial approach was to use real food photography to make the Sadya feel more appetising and instantly tempting. The idea was to let the food itself create the craving and make people want to open the box.
However, the client wanted the packaging to follow a vector-based visual direction, so I adapted the idea into an illustrated interpretation of the Sadya.
The Challenge
This was a last-minute requirement, just a few days before Onam, which meant developing the packaging within a very tight timeline while still creating something festive and visually engaging.
A festive packaging design created for Sangeetha’s Onam Sadya. The packaging needed to celebrate the richness of Kerala’s Onam traditions while still feeling vibrant, approachable and distinctly Sangeetha.

I explored the packaging through two different visual directions.
For the final packaging, I brought elements from both approaches together combining the visual richness and appetite appeal of the food with the playful, festive character of the illustrations.
