Let’s look Inside The Packaging Idea
The brief was to design Sangeetha’s Meals Box, creating packaging that reflects the brand’s strong connection with South Indian food, culture and traditions.
The challenge was to bring these different associations together in one visual language, while making the box feel distinctly Sangeetha and recognisable to someone familiar with the brand.
Overview
The Thought
The idea was to create a visual identity that felt uniquely Sangeetha, while also bringing in the culture and traditions associated with South India.
Rather than using generic South Indian motifs, I looked at elements that people already associate with Sangeetha, its food and its heritage, and brought them together into one illustrated composition.
South Indian Culture
The banana leaf, kolam and the woman drawing it bring an immediate South Indian connection to the packaging.
These elements help establish the cultural context of the brand without relying only on food imagery.
Sangeetha's Classics
Meals, dosa, vada and filter coffee were chosen because they are closely associated with Sangeetha's food offering and the memories people have of the brand.
Sangeetha itself describes its roots in South Indian classics and traditional Udupi and Chettinad-style cooking.
The idea was simple, when someone sees these familiar foods, they should immediately think of Sangeetha.
Music Connection
The Veena has a more direct connection to the Sangeetha identity. Sangeetha's own history describes the connection between food and music as part of the brand's creation, and the brand has also used a Veena mark as part of its identity.
So the instrument became a natural way to connect the name Sangeetha with music, while adding another layer of South Indian cultural identity.

Pattern
The background pattern takes inspiration from the form and texture of a banana leaf, extending the visual language beyond the main illustrations.
It creates a subtle connection to the traditional way South Indian meals are served while giving the packaging a more detailed and tactile feel.
